Zara Launches Innovative Platform To Help Customers Extend The Life Of Their Zara Clothing

On November 3rd, Zara launched “Zara Pre-Owned” in the United Kingdom – a pioneering integrated platform available through Zara stores, Zara.com and its mobile app. Through this platform, customers will be able to make more sustainable decisions with regards to their used clothing and will contribute to the reduction of waste and the consumption of new raw materials. As part of Zara and Inditex’s journey towards a more sustainable model, the Zara Pre-Owned platform will offer the following services:

Repair: Zara customers can request repairs on any used Zara garments from any season. The services offered will include a wide range of repair options, ranging from the replacement of buttons and zippers to repairing seams. The customer can carry out the process entirely online or at a Zara store of their choosing.

Resale: Zara Pre-Owned will also offer individuals in the United Kingdom the opportunity to resell their Zara items through a secure platform. In this customer-to-customer process, individuals can resell or buy any Zara garment from any collection, with Zara providing reliable technological and customer service.

The resale space will be organized by product categories with detailed information for each item including current images provided by the seller and original product information provided by Zara.

Donation: Through the Zara Pre-Owned platform, customers can request that used clothing be collected from their home for donation. Similar to already-available donation containers in all Zara stores across the United Kingdom, online donations of garments will go to the Red Cross, an organization that gives products a new life by reusing or recycling them in support of the development of projects in local communities. This service is for clothing from any brand.

This new platform on the Zara website and mobile app is yet another action taken as a part of Inditex’s approach to sustainability and is emblematic of its commitment to moving towards a circular economy model that encompasses all phases of its activity – from product design to the management of its stores, as well as manufacturing, logistics and the company’s offices.

The platform is aligned with and complementary to existing initiatives such as the Inditex Sustainability Innovation Hub, an innovation platform focused on the ongoing search for the best and most sustainable materials, technologies and processes partnering with start-ups such as CIRC or Infinited Fiber, innovation accelerators and reference collaborators such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
